No. 1. Dalli 16 alli
21 Agosto si è scavato il sito determinato, quale ha
dovuto essere una stufa con pavimento di lastrico formato da mattoni pesti e
con intonaco colorito rosso, fuori di quello della nicchia che è colorito verde.
No. 2. Dalli 22 Agosto alli 12 Settembre si è scavato in buona parte questo cortile,
e specialmente nel giro delle sue mura; il suo pavimento è di terra come il
podio segnato in pianta, quale ha di altezza un palmo; le mura sono rivestite
con intonaco bianco; la bagneruola è rivestita
d'intonaco con polvere di mattoni. Nel pavimento vi sono conficcati dei doli di
creta cotta, di diametro circa palmi 4 e della stessa altezza, ciascuno con
corrispondente coperchio; la bocca di alcuni di questi resta da sopra al piano
della terra palmo 1 e di altri, palmi 2; e pare che restassero situati con
ordine regolare, come si può intendere dalli pochi che se ne sono scoperti e che
si vedono disegnati nella pianta. Sopra del podio si sono trovati più coperchi
de' sopraddetti doli. Uno di questi doli si è rimesso al Museo alli 14 Agosto 1782.
No. 3. Dalli 27
alli 30 Agosto si è ricercata la stanza contrasegnata con pavimento di terra e mura rivestite con
intonachi ordinari; e si è rinvenuto in questa il seguente. A ciascuno degli
angoli si è trovata appoggiata una idria di creta, ed una di queste
rotta. Fra le medesime se n'è rimessa una al Museo alta palmi 2 3/4 con suo coperchio, altre due consimili si
sono passate a Pompei. Si è trovato benanche un vaso di creta con labbro come
quello de' boccali e ad un solo manico, alto once 9 1/2. Nella medesima stanza si
è rinvenuto uno scheletro di ragazzo e vicino al medesimo due piccoli cilindri di
bronzo esteriormente lavorati al tornio. Tre bottoni formati da lastre di
metallo inargentate e due di questi con staffe nella parte posteriore. Numero cinquantatré
grani di vetro come di corona.
No. 4. Dalli 12 alli
21 Novembre si è scavata la stanza contrasegnata,
quale ha pavimento con lastrico di mattoni pesti e le mura del tutto rustiche,
e si è trovato: Di bronzo. Una molletta lunga once 4 1/2. Un anello di diametro
oncia 1 4/5. Pezzo sottilissimo in forma di ghianda con dentro anima di legno, lungo
minuti 4 1/2, ed è molto rotto. In un angolo della medesima stanza si sono
trovate cinque idrie; quattro di queste con il collo rotto ed altra sana; quale
per essere simile a tante altre si è lasciata nel proprio sito.
No. 5. Dalli 22
alli 26 Novembre si è ricercata questa stanza con
pavimento di terra ed intonaco con polvere di mattoni, nella quale ad uno degli
angoli vi è focolare; e si è trovato in questa il seguente, oltre a più scheletri
di cavalli. Di bronzo. Un chiodo. Un anello. Di ferro. Cinque verghette con
maglie nel mezzo e piastre alli due estremi per essere fissate ad un qualche
legno. Anelli sette di diametro once 2 3/5 ed altro anello più piccolo. Due pezzi
di catenelle a maglie, uno di questi pezzi legato ad un anello. Altri due pezzi
di catena formata ad anelli. Un perno. Un pezzo di piangia
con occhi ad ambi gli estremi. Questi monumenti di ferro sono stati rimessi nel
Reale Museo alli 13 Dicembre.
No. 6. (Manca

No. 7. Dalli 30 Novembre alli 23 Dicembre interrottamente si è lavorato a
ricercare il viottolo contrasegnato; quale ha pavimento
di terra e le laterali mura sono del tutto rustiche.
No. 8. Dalli 2
alli 12 Dicembre si è ricercata questa stanza, quale ha
il pavimento di terra e mura del tutto prive d'intonachi. I due poggi di
fabbrica che vi si vedono segnati sono alti palmi 3. Si è trovato in tale stanza
un'idria di creta, quale si è lasciata nel proprio sito.
No. 9. Dalli 12 alli
17 Dicembre si è scavato il sito contrasegnato
con pavimento di terra e mura del tutto rustiche.
No. 10. Dalli 15 alli
21 Dicembre si è ricercata questa stanza, quale ha
pavimento di terra e mura del tutto rustiche; da un lato vi è forno come si
osserva nella pianta. Questa tale stanza si è conosciuto essere già stata
ricercata in altro tempo.
Sì nel sopra
nominato tempo che sino alli 31 Dicembre si sono fatte
più ricerche all' intorno di queste fabbriche, senza essersi possuti trovare degli altri indizi di edifici.

Remains of buildings on the farm of D. Gennaro Papa,
Castellammare estate, site called Belvedere.
This excavation was begun on 16 August 1781, precisely on
the site determined.
No. 1. From the 16th to the 21st of August the determined
site was excavated, which had to be a stove with a pavement of paving stones
made of crushed bricks and with red coloured plaster, apart from that of the
niche which is green coloured.
No. 2. From the 22nd of August to the 12th of September, this courtyard was largely excavated, especially around its walls; its floor is made of earth, as is the podium marked out on the plan, which is one palm high; the walls are covered with white plaster; the trough is covered with crushed brick plaster. In the floor there are dolia of baked clay, with a diameter of about 4 palms and of the same height, each with a corresponding lid. The mouths of some of these dolia are 1 cm above the ground level and of others, 2 cm; and it seems that they were located in a regular order, as can be seen from the few that have been discovered and that can be seen drawn on the plan. Above the podium, several lids of the aforementioned dolia were found. One of these dolia was sent to the Museum on August 14, 1782.
No. 3. From 27 to 30 August, we searched for the room
decorated with an earthen floor and walls covered with ordinary plaster; and
the following was found there. At each of the corners was found a clay hydria,
and one of these was broken. Among them, one was sent to the Museum 2 3/4 palms
high with its lid, and two others of the same type were taken to Pompeii. Also
found was a clay vase with a lip like that of the jugs and with a single
handle, 9 1/2 onces high. In the same room was found a skeleton of a boy and
next to it two small bronze cylinders externally worked on the lathe. Three
buttons made of silver-plated metal plates and two of these with brackets on
the back. Number fifty-three glass beads as a crown.
No. 4. From the 12th to the 21st of November, the room marked
above was excavated, which has a floor with a paving stone and rustic walls,
and the following was found: Bronze. A clothes pin 4
1/2 onces long. A ring with a diameter of 1 4/5 onces. A very thin piece in the
form of an acorn with a wooden core inside, 4 1/2 minutes long, and is very
broken. In a corner of the same room five hydrias were found; four of them with
broken necks and another healthy one; which, being similar to many others, was
left in its place.
No. 5. From the 22nd to the 26th of November this room was
searched, with a floor of earth and plaster with brick dust, in which there is
a fireplace in one of the corners; and the following was found in it, as well
as several skeletons of horses. Bronze. A nail. A ring. Of iron. Five rods with
links in the middle and plates at both ends to be fixed to some kind of wood.
Seven rings with a diameter of 2 3/5 onces and another smaller ring. Two pieces
of chain links, one of which is attached to a ring. Two other pieces of chain
made from rings. One pin. A piece of piangia with eyes at each end. These iron monuments were sent to
the Royal Museum on 13 December.
No. 6. (Missing from the original).
No. 7. From the 30th of November to the 23rd of December
work was carried out intermittently on the search for the marked pathway, which
has an earthen floor and the side walls are completely
rustic.
No. 8. From the 2nd to the 12th of December, they searched this
room, which has an earthen floor and walls which are completely without
plaster. The two balconies of the building which are marked there are 3 palms
high. A clay hydria was found in this room, which was left in its proper place.
No. 9. From 12th to 17th December, the site marked out was
excavated, with an earthen floor and completely rustic walls.
No. 10. From 15th to 21st December this room was searched,
which has an earthen floor and completely rustic walls; on one side there is an
oven as can be seen on the plan. This room is known to have been searched at
another time.
From the aforementioned time and up to December 31st more
searches were made around these buildings, without having been able to find any
other signs of buildings.
